Position Overview: Steve Madden Canada is seeking a Junior CAD Designer. This is a position based in our Montreal office. The ideal candidate will have some prior experience in the apparel industry and a strong understanding of the design process. This role will focus on supporting the creation of apparel designs, working with fit and assisting in the development of tech packs.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in creating and preparing CAD designs for apparel products.

Support the development of tech packs, including garment specifications, materials, trims, and construction details.

Help update and maintain design libraries and templates.

Work closely with the design and product development teams to ensure designs align with brand vision and seasonal direction.

Participate in fit sessions, offering insights and helping to refine designs based on fit feedback.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, sourcing, and quality control, to ensure designs meet production standards.

Assist in updating design files and revisions as needed to maintain accuracy throughout the development process.

Provide design support for seasonal collections, helping to meet tight deadlines and deliver high-quality products.

Qualifications:

Previous experience (1-2 years) in the apparel industry, preferably in design or product development.

Strong understanding of apparel construction, fit, and fabrics.

Experience in creating and managing tech packs and garment specifications.

Knowledge of the full design process, from initial concept to production.

Attention to detail and ability to work efficiently within deadlines.

Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Positive attitude and a strong willingness to learn and grow within the fashion industry.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn internal design systems quickly.

Preferred Skills:

Familiarity with the fit process and garment adjustments.

A basic understanding of fashion trends and market preferences.

Previous experience in junior design or technical design roles is a plus.
