Position OverviewWhat You Will Do:

Work with the Design Team to observe and own seasonal calendar, as it relates to the company calendar

Participate actively in seasonal concept meetings, proposing inspirational research images, colours, moods,

Drive the research and development of seasonal yarns and swatches in line with the creative vision, submitted to the CD’s approval,

Design and/or direct the design of the Knitwear Collections,

Follow-up on Knitwear samples’ development with external manufacturers and with the Knitwear Product Development team in Toronto, to ensure quality, while respecting the deadlines,

Participate in the presentation of the Knitwear collections and capsules, if needed.

Execute special projects with the support of the Design Manager and Design Team

Work closely with Merchandising partners to ensure all designs support the business objectives

Enter all data required into PLM and updating as required for all styles as directed by collection or project leader

Research inspirations, new trends, and moodboards (men/woman)

Research of new fits, washes, techniques

Be the independent Design voice in fittings on designated styles.

Work closely with PDE partners to communicate designs, BOMs and updates/changes throughout the proto process

Support the Design Team in all fits, be the design voice in fittings on designated styles

Work with the Materials department to develop and adopt fabrics and trims

Collaborate with the Design Team and the Design Manager to create and publish the seasonal color palette and seasonal direction overview

Work with Raw Materials team to support color development as needed

All other duties as assigned by manager

About You

BA Honours Degree or above in Fashion Design

Strong understanding of knit material

2 – 4 years working experience within a Fashion / Garment Design role or related position

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Computer Skills; included proficiency in Microsoft Office, Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and InDesign is essential

Demonstrated ability to take initiative to achieve departmental and corporate objectives

General knowledge of patternmaking and critical product construction

General knowledge of materials (fabrics and trims)

Excellent presentation skills of both designs and creative concepts

CAD development skills for construction of garments and merchandised presentations

Prior experience with Product Line Management (PLM) suggested

Well organized and proficient in time management
