The Merchandise Assistant plays a critical role in supporting the Planner and inventory functions of the Business. This position ensures the smooth management of inventory, maintains accurate stock levels, and supports the planner with order processing, allocations and stock replenishment. This individual will work closely with multiple departments, including wholesale, retail, logistics, and digital, to ensure product availability and meet company demand.

Key Responsibilities: 

Merchandise Administration:

Support the planner with administrative tasks, including processing product orders, preparing product data, and updating product pricing and sizing.

Enter and maintain accurate product and inventory data in the company’s ERP system.

Input of promotional activities and markdowns into the ERP system.

Prepare product replenishment and consolidations across all channels based on sales trends.

Communicate with logistics team on dispatch priorities 

Present weekly distribution plans at merchandise meetings

Assist planner in building and maintaining the assortment and buy plan

Monitor Channel sales performance and assist planner in merchandise strategies to increase sales 

Prepare adhoc merchandise reports based on business needs

Monitor size curves and adjust to meet current demand 

Inventory Coordination

Oversee day-to-day inventory control, ensuring accurate tracking of product movements, including receipts, shipments, and stock transfers.

Monitor backorder and pick run statuses and communicate expected delivery dates to relevant teams.

Perform regular stock takes to minimise discrepancies.

Coordinate inbound shipments when necessary and work closely with freight forwarders. 

Monitor and track shipments to prevent delays and resolve any issues that arise during transit.

Ensure suppliers provide accurate and timely documentation for products, including invoices, delivery receipts, and shipping details.

Preferred Experience 

Highly analytical thinker with strong attention to detail

Experience or studying or working within a Merchandise department or a similar position in Fashion retail 

AP21 experience preferred

Proficient in advanced Excel 

Flexible and thrives on change and challenge 

Individual that demonstrates initiative has the ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment 

Technical aptitude – ability to grasp technical concepts and details 

Proven ability to work within deadlines with minimum supervision
