Description

Your Role:

The Merchandise Planner serves as the business manager for Licensing, Collabs and Third Party (non-footwear) books of business and is primarily responsible for translating the Merchants vision into viable plans and profitable results. The Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining sales, inventory and margin plans that tie to financial targets for the assigned Brands. Strong cross-functional relationships will be key in this role as well as technical expertise in Merchandise Planning. The Merchandise Planner reports to the Manager, Merchandise Planning.

Your Impact

  • Pre-Season: Connect the assortment architecture and merchant vision into a pre-season view of merchandise plans that align with higher level budgets. Develop assortment plans for sales, margin and inventory to the style/choice level. Ability to build choice level plans without prior sales history by utilizing other books of business data to influence volume for new ideas and collaborations
  • In-Season: Analyze and reflect current sales trends within monthly planning committee (MPC); manage inventory within Open-to-Buy by proposing pull-forward, push-out, chase, cancels or RTVs (third party brands). Incorporate impact of events and entrance/exit strategies
  • Manage receipts to budget by scrutinizing buys with a focus on optimal inventory turn, while taking into consideration individual brand calendars and flow of newness
  • Partner with external brands (via account reps) to drive optimal pre-season buys and assortment strategies and in-season execute promotional and liquidation (markdown) strategies. Regularly present findings to external brand leadership
  • Provide ad hoc analysis of various topics to identify wins/opportunities that will drive future growth; build presentations and share back findings with leaders during formal hindsight and business review meetings
  • Ability to balance many cross functional partners and requests, both internal and external, with strong communication skills and high level of accuracy
  • Serve as an Excel expert and regularly build reporting to support high level and lower-level ad hoc analysis for total team use

Minimum Salary: $86,800.00

Maximum Salary: $117,600.00

VS&Co provides a range of compensation for this role as shown. Your actual salary will be determined by a number of factors, including: your specific skills and experience, geographic region, or other relevant factors.

Qualifications

Your Experience:

  • 5-7 years of retail planning, demand forecasting experience, inventory management, allocation, assortment planning, or replenishment experience, financial planning or financial analysis experience. Direct and/or third-party planning experience is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, operations, economics, business, statistics
  • Requires strong problem-solving and analytical skills; strong aptitude with numbers; retail math skills. Strong technical skills in Microsoft Excel or related planning, finance or analytical systems.
  • Experienced in building complex reporting from scratch via MicroStrategy and Excel
  • Able to identify and influence critical stakeholders, proactively problem solve, and recommend solutions. Must be a positive business influence skills and highly collaborative team player
  • Strong communication and presentation skills: concisely presents complex information and recommendations in terms meaningful to a variety of audiences
  • Demonstrated leadership capability and executive presence. Ability to articulate detailed action plans to successfully accomplish goal
  • Makes decisions with limited information but also able to synthesize large quantities of data to drive business decisions
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with various levels of management. Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks/projects
