Part time Apparel developer Jobs in Portland, OR at Bridge and Burn

Bridge & Burn is looking for an apparel developer to join our small but mighty product team. You’ll work with the design team and our factory partners to manage seasonal collections from initial samples through bulk production. This is a part-time role, around 20-30 hours per week. Hours are flexible and some work may be done remotely. We are looking for someone with real world sewing and patternmaking experience who is passionate about apparel and bringing well-fitting and well-crafted garments to life.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain technical data packages containing accurate technical drawings, bills of material, size charts, and construction requirements.
  • Oversee the modification of technical drawings and construction illustrations for the product using Adobe Illustrator.
  • Build and maintain Bills of Materials in accordance with style specifications.
  • Schedule and conduct fittings with the design team and fit specialist.
  • Maintain spec sheets and size charts as recommended by the fit specialist.
  • Accurately measure garments in preparation for fit sessions.
  • Accurately and clearly communicate all fit and material changes to factories
  • General data management, including PLM system and relevant tracking spreadsheets
  • Measure and inspect prototypes, pre-production, and production samples against the tech packs and communicate detailed comments and corrections to the factories.
  • Conducts quality control inspections as needed
  • Use industry experience to provide ideas for improved construction, materials, or components to enhance functionality, aesthetics, and fit.
  • Manage sourcing requests and sampling with existing and potential new suppliers
  • Adhere to seasonal and product timelines

Skills:

  • Knowledge of fashion design principles and garment construction techniques
  • Understanding of pattern making and how to make fit alterations, especially in womenswear
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes as it relates to product development

Qualifications:

  • 2-3 Years experience working in apparel, tailoring, or design
  • Fashion and pattern making / CAD experience preferred
  • Solid understanding of garment construction, particularly in production environments
  • Working knowledge of apparel pattern making and how to make alterations
  • Computer skills in Adobe Illustrator, Airtable, Google Workspace, and MS office
  • PLM experience is a plus
  • Sewing experience is a plus

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $21.00 – $26.00 per hour
