Full Job Description
Job Title: Assistant Buyer
Department: Apparel & Licensing
Supervisor: Merchandise Manager
The Assistant Buyer supports the buying team to execute the buying strategy to achieve sales and gross margin goals. Main responsibilities include keying data information, maintaining reporting, and preparing documents.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for data key of new SKUs and updates to current assortment within system.
Accurately maintain daily operational functions and reports for the Buyer.
Create purchase orders and send them to vendors.
Manage product flow with vendors to optimize sales; monitors ship and cancel dates.
Connects with store teams to address inventory updates, special orders, and feedback on current assortments.
Manages inventory levels and receipt flow following open to buy guidelines.
Reviews aged inventory and develops appropriate exit strategies.
Qualifications & Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree, applicable certification, or equivalent work experience.
Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office with advanced functions in Excel.
Solid understanding of retail industry; ability to utilize retail math to analyze business.
Highly developed problem-solving skills with the ability to offer solutions to challenges.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Proactive, hard-working, self-motivated, and results-oriented; takes pride in accuracy.
Able to independently organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines, well-versed in time management.
Analytical and creative; can balance both while working with retail product lines.
Physical Demands
Most job tasks are completed on the computer in an office environment.
May be required to travel to stores.
