Position Overview

The Product Developer – Accessories will support the creation and merchandising of children’s accessory products for off-price retailers. This role involves close collaboration with overseas factories, internal teams, and clients to ensure timely development and delivery of high-quality products. The position requires strong organizational skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, client-facing environment. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and merchandising of children’s accessory products for off-price retailers, ensuring alignment with brand and client expectations
  • Communicate directly with overseas factories regarding product updates, revisions, and sample feedback to maintain quality standards
  • Review samples and provide comments or product improvement recommendations to enhance product appeal and functionality
  • Assist with sourcing, costing, and production coordination processes to meet budget and timeline requirements
  • Partner closely with internal sales teams to support client presentations and product strategy discussions
  • Attend client meetings and help drive excitement around product assortments through effective communication and presentation skills
  • Track development timelines and ensure deadlines are met for all projects
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product development, merchandising, sourcing, and production teams to achieve business goals
  • Participate in annual travel to China for factory visits and product development meetings

Required Experience/Skills

  • 2–3 years of experience in product development, merchandising, sourcing, or production coordination
  • Experience within kids, juniors, or private label apparel/accessories preferred
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Comfortable in a client-facing environment and able to present confidently
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative office setting
  • Detail-oriented with strong follow-through skills to ensure project completion
  • Experience reviewing samples and communicating product feedback to factories
  • Preferred Experience/Skills
  • Exposure to costing, sourcing, or sales support functions
  • Experience working with overseas factories and understanding production processes
  • Background in off-price or private label retail environments
  • Accessories experience is a plus, but not required

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising, Product Development, Business, or a related field preferred
  • Equivalent work experience in product development or merchandising may be considered
  • Strong understanding of apparel and accessory production processes
  • Familiarity with international sourcing and supply chain management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related business tools
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications and product details
