Job Overview
Matte Collection is looking for a trend-forward, fashion-obsessed Product Development Assistant to help source, identify, and develop new styles across athleisure, lounge, and lifestyle categories.
We’re looking for someone with a strong eye for emerging fashion trends, silhouettes, fabrics, color direction, and what feels next in the market — while still understanding the Matte aesthetic: elevated, feminine, effortless, and refined.
This role will work closely with our creative and production teams to help shape future collections and product launches.
Responsibilities
- Research and identify emerging trends, silhouettes, fabrics, and color stories
- Source inspiration and references for upcoming collections and launches
- Assist with developing new product ideas across apparel, accessories, and lifestyle categories
- Pull and organize market research, competitor analysis, and trend forecasting
- Help source trims, fabrics, washes, and construction references
- Communicate with vendors/manufacturers regarding samples and product development needs
- Organize sample tracking, fit notes, and development timelines
- Support collection planning and seasonal merchandising direction
- Stay ahead of fashion, wellness, activewear, and luxury lifestyle trends
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has a strong understanding of fashion trends and consumer behavior
- Understands the balance between trend-driven and timeless product design
- Has experience in merchandising, fashion buying, product development, or sourcing
- Has a sharp eye for detail, fit, proportion, and styling
- Is highly organized and proactive
- Understands the Matte customer and aesthetic direction
- Can identify products/styles with strong commercial potential
Bonus if you:
- Have experience in athleisure, contemporary fashion, or luxury brands
- Have existing vendor or sourcing relationships
- Understand garment construction and fabrics
- Are highly active on fashion TikTok, Pinterest, Instagram, and trend forecasting platforms
Pay: $25.00 per hour
