Position Overview

The Laboratory Intern provides hands-on support to the Product Development team by helping set up and monitor basic lab testing, organize samples, and maintain day-to-day lab operations. This is an entry-level role designed for students or recent graduates interested in gaining real-world experience in cosmetic or personal care product development.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Assist with setting up stability testing, including labeling samples and placing them in designated conditions (room temperature, elevated heat, etc.)
  • Help monitor samples over time and record basic observations (appearance, color, separation, odor)
  • Support compatibility testing by preparing and organizing product and packaging components
  • Maintain organized sample storage, labeling, and tracking
  • Assist with basic lab tasks, including cleaning glassware, restocking supplies, and keeping the lab organized
  • Help prepare simple lab batches or samples under supervision
  • Enter data and observations into tracking sheets (Excel or internal systems)
  • Assist with shipping and receiving samples for testing
  • Follow all lab safety guidelines and procedures

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Chemistry, Biology, Cosmetic Science, or a related field
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
  • Organized and dependable with good time management
  • Basic computer skills (Excel, data entry)
  • No prior lab experience required, but interest in beauty, science, or product development is a plus

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for periods of time
  • Ability to lift light materials (up to ~25 lbs.)
  • Comfortable working in a lab environment
