Reports into: Head of Product Development Leather RTW

A Product developer in the Leather responsible for overseeing the entire process of bringing leather products to life, working closely to Designer’s team & Merchandising.

Main Responsibilities

Lead and supervise the product development process from concept to design, collaborating closely with the Studio, Pattern Makers, Atelier, and Vendors.

Oversee the entire collection timeline, from kick-off to editing, ensuring adherence to project milestones and deadlines.

Material Sourcing and Evaluation: Identify and source high-quality leather materials together with our Leather search team and trims, evaluating their suitability for the intended product designs and ensuring adherence to quality standards.

Technical Specifications: Create detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs), material requirements, comments & construction methods, finishing techniques, to guide the manufacturing process using PLM software.

Prototyping and Sample Development: Oversee the creation of prototypes and samples, working closely with manufacturers to ensure accurate interpretation of design specifications and resolving any technical issues that arise.

Coordinate the execution of tests, trials, prints, intarsia, and other special techniques at subcontractors or vendors.

Actively participate in pre-buy meetings, verifying Bills of Materials (BOMs), and providing expertise on product development aspects.

Cost Analysis and Value Engineering: Work with Vendors & Merchandising team to analyze product costs, identify opportunities for cost optimization without compromising quality, and implement value engineering strategies.

Collaboration with Cross-functional Teams: Collaborate on the industrialization process, facilitating a smooth transition from development to production.

Skills

Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience in product development within the fashion industry.

Strong knowledge of leather materials, and manufacturing processes.

Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Proactive and solution-oriented mindset with the ability to drive initiatives and resolve complex problems.

Adaptability and flexibility to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.

Keen attention to detail and a strong sense of aesthetics and product awareness.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, JD Edwards, and PLM software is a plus.

Minimum of 5 -10 years of relevant experience in product development or a related field.

Languages: Fluency in Spanish and English is required. Knowledge of Italian or French is a plus.
