Company: Club21
Location: Hong Kong, Hong Kong SAR

Operating across multiple markets in Asia, Club21 combines a deep heritage in fashion curation with an evolving, customer-centric retail model.
JOB SUMMARY
The Regional Merchandising Director will be mandated to transform and future-proof the merchandising function across the region — ensuring the long-term commercial sustainability of the business, anticipating and responding to evolving customer expectations, and embedding technology and process innovation across the end-to-end buying and merchandising lifecycle. This is a strategic, change-oriented mandate layered on top of the core disciplines of merchandise planning, buying governance, and inventory productivity across both multi-brand and mono-brand formats.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Strategic Innovation & Business Transformation
- Lead a region-wide reimagining of the merchandising function to ensure the business remains commercially sustainable amid shifting luxury retail dynamics, channel fragmentation, and evolving consumer behaviour.
- Identify and champion emerging customer needs — including personalisation, sustainability expectations, and cross-channel shopping behaviour — translating these into merchandising strategy and assortment decisions.
- Drive the adoption of technology and data-driven tools (AI-assisted demand forecasting, assortment planning platforms, inventory visibility systems, advanced analytics) into the buying and merchandising process to improve speed, accuracy, and responsiveness.
- Redesign legacy merchandising processes and workflows to remove inefficiencies, reduce time-to-decision, and build a more agile operating rhythm across buying cycles.
- Act as a change leader, building organisational readiness and capability for new tools, ways of working, and decision-making models within the merchandising community.
2. Multi-Brand Curated Retail Merchandising
- Own the end-to-end merchandising strategy for the curated multi-brand portfolio, ensuring a differentiated, commercially balanced brand and category mix across markets.
- Partner with buying teams to build seasonal assortment strategies that reflect brand positioning, market-specific demand, and competitive white space.
- Set and monitor OTB (open-to-buy), sell-through, markdown, and margin targets across brands and categories.
3. Mono-Brand Store Merchandising Governance
- Ensure regional compliance with global brand partners' merchandising guidelines, seasonal buy frameworks, and visual merchandising standards for mono-brand stores.
- Act as the key regional liaison with brand principals on assortment planning, allocation strategy, and performance review.
- Balance global brand mandates with local market commercial realities, negotiating flexibility where needed.
4. Merchandise Planning & Inventory Productivity
- Oversee regional merchandise planning, including sales and inventory forecasting, budgeting, and stock allocation across all markets and formats.
- Drive inventory productivity metrics (sell-through, GMROI, stock turn, aged stock) and implement corrective action plans where underperformance is identified.
- Ensure robust size curve, replenishment, and store-level allocation methodologies are in place and continuously improved.
5. Vendor & Brand Partner Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with luxury brand partners, negotiating trading terms, buy commitments, and seasonal calendars.
- Represent Club21 at international buying appointments, trade fairs, and brand showcases.
6. Team Leadership & Capability Building
- Lead, mentor, and develop a regional team of merchandising and buying professionals across multiple markets.
- Build merchandising capability in data literacy, digital tools, and modern buying methodologies as part of the innovation mandate.
7. Cross-Functional & Executive Collaboration
- Partner closely with Retail Operations, Marketing, Visual Merchandising, Finance, and Supply Chain to ensure merchandising strategy is executed seamlessly at the store level.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Fashion Merchandising, Retail Management, or related field; MBA or equivalent advanced qualification an advantage.
- Minimum 12–15 years of progressive merchandising/buying experience within luxury or premium fashion retail, including at least 5 years in a regional or multi-market leadership role.
- Proven experience managing both multi-brand curated retail and mono-brand/franchise store merchandising models.
- Demonstrated track record of leading merchandising transformation, digital/technology adoption, or process redesign initiatives.
- Experience working directly with international luxury brand partners in a regional distributor, franchise, or licensed retail context is highly preferred.
