Job Title: Regional Product Developer
Working closely with US Account Management and the Hong Kong–based Product Development and Merchandising teams, the Regional Product Developer ensures efficient product development and delivers well-prepared presentations to buyers. They will manage product flow and action calendars for assigned segments while maintaining a thorough understanding of the product cheat sheets and menus across all sectors.
This role serves as the key liaison between US clients and the Hong Kong–based Product Development team. This role requires strong and frequent client engagement, and a solid understanding of the US retail market. The role is responsible for involves analyzing market needs and emerging trends—including styles, shapes, and colours—to ensure product offerings remain competitive and commercially relevant.
In addition to core product development responsibilities, this individual will act as a “stand-in” managerial Product Development (PD) figure, supporting and guiding the Assistant PD in the US. This includes oversight responsibilities such as reviewing and approving time off requests before final approval from the PD Manager in HK, as well as providing day-to-day support on client needs and escalations.
Responsibilities
PD Process and Sourcing
- Research, development, and inspiration – as per seasons schedule
- Proactively contribute ideas and direction into the brands monthly development, ensuring newness is shaped with US client needs in mind
- Anticipate client requests ahead of formal briefs by tracking each account's seasonal needs
- Act as the bridge between US client insight and HK in-house development, sharing learnings from client meetings to influence future development
- Sourcing factory newness, product match backs and materials for PD team
- Bring a keen eye for design forward and commercially viable product and support PD with creative and range
- Attend weekly PDT meetings to discuss upcoming schedules, tracking and actioning preparation and to do list
- Create presentation and design briefs for creative team
- Updating and maintaining product cards and material information on SOM
Client Presentations and meetings:
- Attend face to face meetings with clients at key points throughout the year as well as virtual meetings in between seasons
- Research visual referencing and preparation
- Prepare client meetings, set up product cam and screen, pull samples
- Use existing templates to finalize presentations. Sign-off by PDM
- Edit product imagery and upload to SOM
- Take meeting notes and distribute to the PD/AM team
- Assist PDM creating IMG/ SEL and SAM set after client meetings, prepare samples to send out to clients
Market and Trend Research and Reports:
- Bring a thorough understanding of current market trends (shapes, colors, materials)
- Market Segment Analysis, with a thorough understanding of current market segments within the business including Tween/Youth, Casual/Fashion/Contemporary/Mass
- Work with PD team on executing Trend Reports, Quarterly Reports and Runway Reports
- Support the Trends & Forecasting team by: Feed into brainstorming sessions with Trends & Forecasting Team
- Keep on top of viral eyewear trends as well as social media trends
Sampling:
- Photograph and retouch new designs, samples and new materials
- Input factory newness and new components/materials into the SOM
- Liaise closely with bb merchandisers and manufacturers with clear process and efficiencies around CSD/sample development for allocated clients
- Organize/manage the Master wall
- Daily liaison with Product Development and Design and Merchandising Teams to ensure smoothest processes from design through, product design approval and prototype preparation
- Additional duties will also be required as and when required by the needs of the company.
Salary $90,000-$100,000
