Job Description:
We are currently looking for a Retail Merchandising Assistant to join our growing team in North America.
The Retail Merchandising Assistant will focus on supporting all needs for the North America brick and mortar business. The role will be reporting into the Retail Planner and work closely with the Store Managers and Retail Operations Coordinator.
Our North America office is based in New York City and offers a hybrid work environment.
Main Responsibilities
Daily support for retail team on all aspects of administrative duties.
Assist Retail Planner with data collection and formatting of reports and presentations.
Maintain product classifications lists for each season; update the seasonality and MD status.
Track the sales duration of SKUs in stores on a weekly basis.
Coordinate merchandise drops into stores, ensuring optimal SKU distribution, efficient stock utilization, timely launches, seasonal relevance, and seamless integration with production deliveries.
Monitor key sellers for stock-out or size break risks and promptly notify the retail team of replenishment needs.
Track store SKU counts to maintain a balanced floor presentation—avoiding overcrowding or sparse displays. Adjust drop-ins or returns as needed and collaborate with store teams to anticipate style removals.
Assist stores in planning out the floor merchandising to highlight slow sellers, seasonally relevant products, or launches.
Prepare and communicate collection information for stores – Collection Buy Book, Price changes, launch dates, and in-store seasonal style drop dates.
Role Requirements
Commitment to the VEJA Project and vision; passionate about fair-trade fashion brands with the ability to speak confidently about the VEJA Project, both internally and externally.
This is an entry-level position, less than 1 year of professional experience preferred. Prior internship experience in fashion, footwear, or like-minded brand required.
Has a keen understanding of fashion business and/or retail landscape.
Intermediate proficiency in retail math and Microsoft Excel (including VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and SUMIFS), with a strong desire to learn and further develop these skills.
Positive “can-do” attitude and ability to adapt to a fast-growing organization.
Ability to work autonomously, prioritize and multi-task effectively.
Excellent organizational and follow-through skills with a strong attention to detail.
Bachelor’s degree in business, fashion merchandising or similar area, foreign language skills are a plus (French, Spanish and/or Portuguese).
The estimated compensation range for this role is $60,000 – $65,000 annually to align with experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, 401K match, generous PTO and more!
