A leading food retailer and wholesaler in the North West of England is looking to recruit a Senior Buying Manager to oversee the Buying and Category Strategy for Fresh Produce (Fruit and Vegetables) by effectively sourcing and negotiating the optimum cost price with growers, wholesalers and processors. The company are a winner of multiple awards for their products and service and have won awards in recognition of the way the treat their employees.
About the Role
The jobholder will be accountable for developing and bringing to market a profitable category range using their excellent market and product knowledge. With responsibility for loose and packaged produce, you will be required to identify and source new suppliers as well as optimising terms with the current supply base, with a particular emphasis of the provenance of the product. You will also be required to manage the price files associated with the contracts and to execute in season promotional activity to optimise sales, profit and supplier income.
About the Person
With Buying / Trading experience in the Fresh Food Wholesale or Retail sector, you will have complete freedom and autonomy to manage your category from top to bottom along with a proven track record of building strong relationships with suppliers and implementing the category strategy to maximise sales. You will have ultimate accountability for margin and profitability, whilst minimising waste and staying one step ahead of competitors via innovation, all the while prioritising customer needs. This will be underpinned by your outstanding negotiation skills along with strong commercial acumen.
