Role Description

The Senior Designer will lead the creative development of seasonal collections, from concept through to final product, ensuring alignment with Gorman’s distinctive brand identity and sustainability values.

This full-time, on-site role located at our head office in Abbotsford involves creating print concepts, developing color palettes, and designing garments and accessories in collaboration with the wider design, production, and merchandising teams.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • researching trends and materials,
  • briefing and reviewing artwork with internal and external artists,
  • preparing detailed technical drawings, and
  • working closely with pattern makers to refine fit and construction.

The Senior Designer will also support range planning, contribute to merchandising decisions, and provide design direction and mentoring to junior designers. Regular cross-functional collaboration with marketing and retail teams is expected to ensure cohesive storytelling across product, campaigns, and in-store experiences.

Qualifications required

  • Advanced skills in design tools (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and ability to create clear technical drawings and production-ready artwork.
  • Strong understanding of fabric types, garment construction, fit, and the end-to-end product development process from concept to production.
  • Demonstrated ability to research trends, interpret cultural and artistic references, and translate them into commercially viable yet distinctive designs.
  • Experience working with sustainable materials, ethical production considerations, and an interest in environmentally responsible fashion practices.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to present ideas, give and receive constructive feedback, and work cross-functionally.
  • Leadership capabilities, including mentoring junior designers, managing workloads, and contributing to a positive, inclusive studio culture.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

If you’re a creative leader with exceptional technical capability and a love for original design, we want to hear from you!
