This is a grown-up grooming role. You’ll run your own chair in a fully-equipped salon with a steady stream of clients flowing in from our daycare and boarding side. If you’re tired of corporate chains, hourly rates that cap your earnings, or salons that don’t trust you to make calls on a dog — this is for you. Commission-based means the more you book, the more you earn.
We’re looking for someone who treats their chair like a small business.
What you’ll do
Full-service grooming: bath, brush, blow-dry, breed-standard cuts, hand scissoring, hand stripping, nail trims, ear cleaning, sanitary work
Manage your own schedule and rebookings
Build (or bring) a loyal book of clients who specifically book with you
Maintain your station, tools, and grooming records
Communicate clearly with owners on grooming goals, before-and-afters, and any concerns
Refer clients to daycare/boarding (and vice versa)
What we need from you
Minimum 2 years of professional grooming experience
Strong knowledge of breed standards (doodles don’t count as a breed standard — we need someone who knows the difference between a Schnauzer and a Lakeland)
Skilled at hand scissoring and breed-specific cuts
Comfortable with all sizes and most temperaments (including grumpy seniors and wiggly puppies)
Strong time management — you keep your day on schedule
Customer-first mindset — your rebooking rate is your scoreboard
Strong spoken English
Legally entitled to work in Canada
Team-player attitude — even though you run your own chair, you’re still part of the crew
Existing client book you can bring with you
Show grooming experience or breed-specific specialty (Asian fusion, hand stripping, sporting breeds, doodle work)
Previous experience training or mentoring apprentices
Fear Free certified preferred — our entire team is certified, and we’ll cover the cost if you’re not yet
