Job Overview
PAR Apparel is seeking a highly experienced Senior Technical Designer to lead the technical development of Walmart Missy, Plus Size, and Kids apparel programs.
This is an exciting opportunity for a technical design professional with extensive Walmart experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a passion for delivering exceptional fit, garment quality, and manufacturability.
Please note: This position requires direct experience working on Walmart apparel programs. Candidates without Walmart Technical Design experience will not be considered.
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical development process for Walmart Missy, Plus Size, and Kids apparel.
- Conduct garment fit sessions independently and recommend pattern and construction improvements.
- Create and maintain detailed Tech Packs, specifications, grading, measurements, and construction details.
- Review patterns, grading, garment construction, and fit for accuracy and consistency.
- Ensure all products meet Walmart technical standards, quality expectations, and compliance requirements.
- Partner closely with Design, Product Development, Merchandising, and Production teams throughout the product lifecycle.
- Work directly with overseas factories and vendors to resolve fit, construction, and production challenges.
- Review pre-production samples, size sets, TOP samples, and production approvals.
- Identify technical issues early and implement corrective actions to maintain production timelines.
- Maintain fit standards across multiple Walmart programs.
- Mentor junior Technical Designers and support continuous process improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of Technical Design experience in apparel.
- Extensive experience supporting Walmart Missy, Plus Size, and Kids apparel programs.
- Previous experience working directly with Walmart Technical Design teams and suppliers.
- Strong understanding of Walmart technical standards, fit approval processes, and compliance requirements.
- Expert knowledge of:
- Patternmaking
- Garment construction
- Grading
- Fit evaluation
- Sewing techniques
- Experience working with overseas factories throughout the product development process.
- Proficiency with PLM systems, Adobe Illustrator, and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple seasons and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Walmart Technical Design Certification or previous Walmart Technical Design training.
- Experience supporting high-volume Walmart private label programs.
- Experience with both woven and knit apparel.
- Vendor management experience with overseas factories, particularly in Asia.
- Proven ability to improve fit consistency while reducing sample rounds and speeding product development.

Pay: $95,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year
