Job Overview
As a Shampoo Assistant at Gillian Johnson Salon, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our clients have an exceptional salon experience. You will be responsible for providing high-quality shampooing and conditioning services, supporting Gillian Johnson with various tasks, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace. This position is ideal for someone passionate about the beauty industry and eager to learn and grow in a professional salon environment.
Responsibilities:
Work under Gillian Johnson and perform shampooing services on clients. Provide excellent customer service by greeting clients warmly, offering refreshments, and ensuring they are comfortable during their visit.
Assist in opening and closing duties, answer phones, and book appointments as required.
Preparing clients
Seating and draping clients
Detangling hair
Sectioning hair for services (Color treatments, blow drying, etc.)
Assisting head stylist
Setting up the shampooing area
Shampooing and conditioning hair
Assisting in performing styles, as needed
Sanitizing & Organization
Cleaning the shampoo area, including wiping down and disinfecting surfaces, sweeping and moping the floors
Washing, drying, and folding towels and capes
Cleaning and disinfecting tools and workstations
Putting hair tools in their designated spaces
Restocking supplies (shampoo and conditioner bottles, hair products, etc.)
Sweeping and mopping the main floor area
Responsibilities also include salon assistant roles, such as reception and cleaning duties. Collaborate with team members to ensure a seamless workflow within the salon.
Qualifications/Requirements:
A strong interest in the beauty industry and a desire to grow within the field.
Excellent communication and customer service skills; ability to make clients feel welcome and valued.
Willingness to assist team members and contribute to a positive work environment.
Ability to follow instructions carefully and provide meticulous service.
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as shampooing and conditioning hair.
This position requires standing for long periods and working in a fast-paced environment. The role requires flexible working hours, including evenings and weekends.

Pay: From $10.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 36 per week
