You’ll be welcoming guests to our on-site shop at our garden and distillery selling them gin, other smaller items and providing great customer service.
JOB TITLE: Shop Assistant
Location: Edinburgh/Midlothian
Terms: 25-hour week
Hours:Thursday to Monday, 11am to 4.00pm
Salary: Available on Request
Reports to: Site/Garden Manager

Under new ownership since mid-2022, Secret Garden has been navigating away from being a small player in the spirits business towards its ambition of being an iconic brand in the UK and beyond. Built around our ethos of producing high-quality, sustainable products: we have ambitious plans and are looking for the right individual to help us achieve our goals.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for an enthusiastic and trustworthy individual to join our sales and visitor experience team who will be responsible for manning our on-site shop and being the first face that our guests will see when they come to our site. Our shop sells our gin as well as local products from local suppliers, i.e. books, candles and cards. This role also involves providing gin tastings if needed to customers. The individual hired will also oversee the stock in the shop and there is an opportunity to grow the offering and bring in new products where necessary. You will also have to keep the shop looking presentable and have a creative eye for the layout to enhance sales.
Training will be provided to expand your distilling and botanical knowledge to be able to engage with customers.
Secret Garden is looking for someone that embodies this mentality with a positive attitude, excellent work ethic and the desire to prove themselves in Scotland’s exciting drinks industry.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
·Welcoming all customers to the site.
·Offering tastings and information on Secret Garden Gin production.
·Opening and closing the shop.
·Cashing up.
·Ordering and maintaining stock.
·Dealing with click and collect customers.
·Undertaking the monthly stock take.
·Maintaining a clean and attractive environment
·Liaising with the commercial team when necessary to give sales numbers per month.
Qualifications and Traits:
·A dynamic and trustworthy individual who will greet customers with courtesy, enthusiasm and confidence.
·Initiative in presenting new lines into the shop to be introduced and sold.
· Flexibility, teamwork, and organisational skills.
· Excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanour.
· An interest in gin, distilling and Scotland’s food and drinks industry.
· Proficiency in customer service; making phone calls and using email and ordering systems with suppliers.
· General excel knowledge.
