Social Media and Content Manager

We design intuitive, high-performance tools that make styling effortless while protecting hair health. As we continue to scale, we have expanded into key retail partners like Target and Ulta, bringing our viral, community-led brand into physical spaces nationwide.

We’re looking for a Social Media & Content Manager to own how Wavytalk shows up online, working closely with our in-house team to create high-performing content—from high-production tutorials to low-lift, trend-driven videos—and bringing a constant stream of fresh, social-first ideas to life. This role will report directly to our Senior Brand Marketing Director and follows a hybrid schedule, with 4 days per week in our NYC office.

Key Responsibilities:

Social Media Strategy & Content Leadership

  • Own and execute social media strategy across TikTok, Instagram, Youtube, Pinterest and emerging platforms
  • Evolve brand voice, tone, and content pillars (education, entertainment, product storytelling, community)
  • Build and manage weekly and monthly content calendars aligned with campaigns, launches, and key moments
  • Lead rapid trend execution, identifying, creating, and publishing content within 24–72 hours
  • Ensure content is platform-native, culturally relevant, and optimized for performance

Content Creation & On-Camera Presence

  • Act as a primary content creator for the brand, including filming, editing, and publishing low lift content
  • Create high-performing short-form videos focused on trends, tutorials, product storytelling, and social-first storytelling
  • Lead real-time content capture, including event recaps, behind-the-scenes, and live moments
  • Translate trends into brand-relevant content quickly and consistently
  • Repurpose creator content across social, ads, website, and email channels

Content Collaboration & Production Workflow

  • Collaborate closely with the in-house creative and content team to bring ideas to life—from concept to final delivery
  • Develop clear, actionable content briefs aligned with trends, campaigns, and product priorities
  • Share and align on briefs with internal teams to ensure consistency in execution and brand voice
  • Be actively involved in the content review and feedback process, refining assets to ensure they meet performance and brand standards
  • Partner cross-functionally to ensure content is delivered on time and optimized for each platform

Brand Partnerships & Community Growth

  • Identify and execute brand-to-brand partnerships on social (especially Instagram) for cross-promotion and giveaways
  • Build relationships with complementary brands to expand reach and audience
  • Activate collaborations through co-created content, giveaways, and social campaigns
  • Engage daily with the community (comments, DMs, trends) to build loyalty and conversation

Campaign Integration & Product Storytelling

  • Contribute to 360° campaign planning across launches and key brand moments
  • Translate product launches and marketing strategies into social-first storytelling
  • Develop content that supports integrated campaigns across organic, paid, and retail moments
  • Partner cross-functionally with product, creative, and growth teams to ensure cohesive execution

Performance, Analytics & Growth

  • Track and analyze performance across social, UGC, and ambassador channels
  • Optimize content and campaigns based on engagement, reach, and conversion data
  • Measure success across key metrics: engagement rate, follower growth, content output, and revenue impact
  • Continuously test, learn, and iterate to improve performance

Trend & Culture Leadership

  • Act as the internal expert on social trends, platform updates, and cultural moments
  • Conduct ongoing competitor and industry research to identify opportunities, gaps, and emerging best practices
  • Proactively bring new ideas, formats, and opportunities to keep the brand fresh and competitive
  • Ensure Wavytalk remains fast-moving, culturally relevant, and best-in-class on social

Requirements:

  • 3-5+ years of experience in social media management, community building, or content creation, preferably in the beauty, fashion, or lifestyle industry.
  • Proven track record of growing social media accounts (Instagram and TikTok) and engaging online communities.
  • Strong knowledge of UGC best practices, content curation, and influencer marketing.
  • Creative thinker with excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
  • Experience with social media analytics tools (e.g., Sprout Social, Later, Hootsuite) to measure performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Must be able to commute to our flatiron office 4 days a week.
  • Passion for hair care, beauty trends, and social media innovation is a plus!
