Full job description
Just One is looking for an experienced Designer for our Sportswear Apparel Department. The Designer will be responsible for the entire design process and workflow to ensure high level execution. They will work with internal and external partners to ensure development and presentation is completed on time.
Just One sources and sells Women’s apparel to major retailers. Just One has been in the Apparel Business since 2007 and is located in NYC. Our brands represent juniors, missy, plus sizes, and kids in sportswear, intimates, outerwear, sleepwear, and much more.
Responsibilities:
CAD Design & Illustration
▸ Create detailed flat and CADs for sportswear styles including tops, bottoms, outerwear, and accessories
▸ Develop colorways, trim callouts, and design details with accuracy for internal reviews and line sheets
▸ Maintain and update seasonal design files in Adobe Illustrator, ensuring consistency across the collection
▸ Collaborate with the design team to refine silhouettes and construction details based on feedback
Print & Surface Design
▸ Design original prints, graphics, and surface treatments aligned with seasonal direction and brand aesthetic
▸ Adapt and repeat prints for placement, engineered, and all-over applications across different fabrications
▸ Manage print colorways and ensure artwork is production-ready, meeting vendor specifications and color standards
▸ Stay current with print and pattern trends in sportswear, streetwear, and performance apparel markets
Technical Packs
▸ Build comprehensive and accurate tech packs for all styles, including construction details, measurements, BOM, and trim callouts
▸ Partner with the technical design and production teams to ensure spec accuracy and minimize sampling errors
▸ Communicate clearly with overseas and domestic factories, responding to technical queries and approving lab dips and strike-offs
▸ Update tech packs with fit comments and revisions throughout the development process
Cross-Functional Collaboration
▸ Work closely with merchandising, technical design, and sourcing teams to ensure designs are commercially viable
▸ Participate in design reviews, fit sessions, and seasonal presentations
▸ Support in maintaining a well-organized design library of fabrics, trims, and reference samples
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Required
▸ Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, or a related field
▸ 1-3 years of design experience in sportswear, activewear, or performance apparel
▸ Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
▸ Strong technical knowledge of garment construction, seaming, and fabric behavior
▸ Proven ability to produce clean, detailed, and production-ready tech packs
▸ Experience creating repeat prints and engineered graphics for apparel
▸ Strong attention to detail and ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Preferred
▸ Knowledge of performance fabrics, technical textiles, and sustainable materials
▸ Understanding of international sizing standards and grading
▸ Experience communicating with overseas factories and vendors
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $52,000.00 – $60,000.00 per year
