We are seeking an energetic, solution oriented, fashion focused merchant, that possesses an eye for product with a strong financial acumen. The Senior Buyer role, in collaboration with planning, leads the merchant team to achieve key KPI’s while continually offering new product ideas that are both trend and brand right. The Senior Buyer will report directly to the VP of Merchandising, Clothing. This role is hybrid working in the Home Office in Houston, TX.
What you’ll do:
- Develop seasonal assortment plans to maximize the development of brand, sales, and profits. Identify opportunities and recommend new products or concepts for department. Coordinate information across departments with Merchandise Planning, Visual Merchandising, and Boutique Operations to ensure smooth flow of merchandise to the sales floor.
- Develop/decide product assortment, merchandise point of view, shop strategies, key item positioning, and promotional plans, ensuring that the collection is compelling, commercially viable and supports overall business objectives.
- Source vendor base and create exclusive, proprietary products that enhance the brand.
- Ensure timely delivery of the merchandise through consistent communication and follow-up with vendor, distribution center, and merchandise planning.
- In collaboration with Planning, drive seasonal strategies and financial plans; ensure the financial success of a single division by meeting or exceeding sales, GM, and inventory goals.
- Gain knowledge of customers and awareness of the competitive landscape to identify emerging trends.
- Effectively lead and communicate with vendors, the internal merchant team, marketing and upper management.
- Directly supervise, coach and mentor team members with clear career paths and developmental plans.
- Other duties as assigned.
What you bring:
- 6 plus years of retail buying experience.
- Experience in sourcing vendors, product development, and production.
- Possess strong presentation, listening, verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to defend and effectively sell a point of view.
- Analyze a problem skillfully, formulate a logical rationale for the decision and act.
- Demonstrated track record of driving financial performance and impact
- Ability to maintain a cooperative team environment that promotes high performance standards and attainment of goals.
- Must be open-minded to and receptive of others’ opinions.
- Ability to think and react in a fast-paced environment.
- Possess computer literacy with Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Ability to travel domestically.
