Purpose of Role

The Sr. Design Director, Men’s Sportstyle, Basketball/Curry, Collabs, & Outdoor is responsible for researching, building & collaborating on the creative handwriting and concepts on a seasonal basis, ensuring connection to brand strategy, innovation, and UA design DNA.

The Sr. Design Director will report to the SVP of Design and partner closely with peers from Design, Innovation/Materials, Product, Merchandising, and Marketing. This leader will be specifically responsible for the research, collaboration, and application of the creative direction for the Men’s categories of Sportstyle, Basketball/Curry, Collabs & Outdoor, synergizing trend relevance with core UA values of innovation & performance.

Your Impact

Develop and execute clear and detailed technical illustrations for development kits; present them back to Development and Production according to the calendar. Drive team’s calendar timelines to maximize efficiencies and on-time delivery.

Manage the entire design team’s workflow to include all sport category divisions. Create efficiencies in uppers and lasts to drive singular brand synergies throughout the line.

Manage the workflow of designers to meet marketing deadlines regarding all footwear catalogs, accessory catalogs, sales meetings, and special requests. Develop a catalog perspective and partner with merchandising directors to tell the product line story visually.

Communicate all changes, updates, additions, and deletions to current and future seasons to appropriate designers and developers clearly and speedily. Be accountable to the calendar and deadlines.

Interact cross-functionally with PLMs, Developers, Innovation, and Materials on seasonal line development from vision to execution.

Lead fittings with PLMs, Product Developers, and Pattern Makers for the designated product. Approve confirmation samples before going into bulk production.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree required, MBA is helpful but not mandatory

Minimum 15+ years of experience in Apparel or relevant industry

Global industry experience (international)

Proven experience in leading and managing a team

Experience in senior creative role within apparel/design industry

Experience leading a team of creative designers

Workplace Location

Location:This individual must reside within commuting distance from ourNew Yorkoffice.

Return to Work Designation:Three (3)days week in-office, the remainder of work week…
