 Head of Production – George  

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are looking for a highly organised and creative Studio Manager to oversee our ecommerce studio operations for George at Asda. This is a pivotal role responsible for ensuring our studio produces high-volume, on-brand imagery that drives conversion and also supports with content for George’s digital channels. You will play an essential role in producing high level content and have an excellent understanding of the nuances of creative across photography, and post-production. 

You will manage end-to-end studio workflows from shoot planning and scheduling through to final asset delivery, while leading a talented team of Photographers, Stylists, Re-touchers and Copywriters. The right person brings a sharp eye for fashion imagery, deep knowledge of e-commerce production standards, and the organisational rigour to keep a fast-paced studio running at peak efficiency.

Please note this role is studio based, 5 days per week. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

·       Own the day-to-day running of the e-commerce studio, ensuring shoots are delivered on time, on budget, and to brand standard.

·       Develop, implement, and continuously improve studio workflows, SOPs, and scheduling systems

·       Manage capacity planning and resource allocation across all studio functions.

·       Directly manage a multidisciplinary Studio team including Photographers, Stylists, Hair & Make-up Artists, Re-touchers and Copywriters. 

·       Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance studio culture

·       Managing studio operations including administration; product flow in the studio, resourcing and client communication and maintenance of equipment, supplies, and facilities (i.e. managing vendor relationships and procurement)

·       Lead pre-production planning for all ecommerce and social shoots from brief through to call sheets and shoot schedules

·       Ensure all shoots meet technical specifications for the website, mobile, and third-party channel requirements

·       Work closely with the Client and Creative teams to ensure schedules are set and imagery is delivered on time.

·       Own the studio variables budget – tracking spend, forecasting costs, processing invoices and reporting / budget reviews with the Head of Production.

·       Negotiate rates with freelancers, agencies, and suppliers to maximise value.

·       Produce regular reporting on studio output, productivity metrics, and asset delivery performance

·       Identify and present opportunities for cost efficiencies without compromising quality

·       Work closely with the Lead Re-toucher to oversee the post-production workflow, ensuring imagery is retouched to a high standard, on schedule and following client feedback. 

·       Ensure the team are adhering to overall brand direction across all product areas and manage all client feedback. 

·       Manage any workflow or digital asset management systems. Ensuring all assets are correctly named, tagged, and distributed to relevant stakeholders

·       Oversee the Photography team in maintaining the setting up of sets, studio lighting and all photography equipment

·       Work closely with the Lead Sample Manager to ensure garment tracking, and returns processes in coordination with the merchandising and warehouse teams

·       Work alongside our Head of Production on George account to establish systems and processes, improve efficiency and optimise performance. 

·       Have experience in designing and setting up new workflows for ecommerce photography including model and still life to improve service delivery and productivity.

·       Provide a seamless support service to all photo studios, supporting our Photographers, Stylists and Hair & Make-up to ensure they are delivering each brief with exacting efficiency.

·       Provide timely and effective communication on progress or issues to the team, find solutions and be a constant source of clear advice and problem solving.

·       Proactively identify bottlenecks and implement operational improvements to increase throughput and quality.

·       Create weekly reports on productively and samples

·       Support in the recruitment of freelance and full-time staff.

·       As a key point of contact, between the wider business and the ecommerce studio, work closely with all teams building collaborative relationships.

·       Regularly liaise with the client to understand photography requirements. 

SKILLS

·       5 years + experience in a Studio Manager role for e-commerce, ideally for a fashion retailer.  

·       Proven experience managing high-volume e-commerce photo shoots and overseeing a studio team (experience setting up a new e-commerce studio and implementing new processes/workflows would be an added bonus)

·       Excellent project management and organisational skills with a demonstrable ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

·       Confident communicator and collaborator; comfortable working across creative, commercial, and operational teams.

·       The ability to manage a heavy workload under pressure by effectively prioritising, planning ahead and overseeing multiple tasks at any one time.

·       Experience with sample management systems, DAM platforms, and scheduling tools
