GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE
The Stylist engages with guests, consults on hair care needs, and recommends products and services. They deliver quality professional services focused on the guest’s overall look, supporting the Experience Manager and Assistant Services Manager through performance, people, and process. A passion for beauty, excellent guest service, and product knowledge are essential.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Stylist embodies Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values, performing duties including:
Performance
Perform hair services: cuts, color, styling, treatments, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing (if applicable).
Meet or exceed weekly sales goal of $800 and productivity targets, delivering exceptional guest service and supporting store sales, loyalty, and shrink reduction.
Understand business drivers and identify growth opportunities.
Conduct product demonstrations to enhance sales and guest experience.
Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives.
Stay informed on industry trends, products, and services to better serve guests.
Maintain regular attendance.
People
Build guest relationships through consultations and tailored recommendations.
Uphold high standards of customer service and salon appearance.
Serve all guests promptly and efficiently, including walk-ins.
Collaborate with skin therapists and retail team for a comprehensive guest experience.
Foster professional relationships with peers and brand partners.
Promote loyalty programs and app benefits.
Attend mandatory training and meetings for professional development.
Process
Ensure compliance with company policies, safety, sanitation, and infection control standards.
Follow service protocols for consistency and quality.
Use booking and client management systems effectively.
Communicate supply needs to the EM.
Maintain cleanliness and operational standards in the store.
Adhere to the dress code and loss prevention practices.
Perform other operational duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Cosmetology license required.
Experience: Previous salon experience preferred.
Skills: Proficiency in salon techniques, equipment, and products; strong communication; ability to work independently and in teams; relationship-building skills.
SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Frequent mobility and standing for long periods.
Regular lifting up to 10 lbs.
Engage in bending, reaching, twisting, and crouching.
