GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Stylist engages with guests, consulting on hair care needs and recommending products and services. They deliver high-quality services focusing on the guest’s overall look, supporting the Experience Manager and Assistant Services Manager through performance, people, and process excellence. Passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and product knowledge are essential.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Stylist exemplifies Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values through:

Performance

Performing hair services such as design, cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing (if applicable).

Achieving an average weekly sales goal of $800, contributing to store sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrink reduction.

Understanding business drivers and identifying growth opportunities.

Conducting product demonstrations to enhance sales and guest experience.

Supporting in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives.

Staying informed on industry trends, ingredients, and benefits to better serve guests.

Maintaining consistent attendance.

People

Building guest relationships through consultations and tailored recommendations.

Providing high standards of customer service and maintaining salon image standards.

Serving all guests promptly and efficiently.

Collaborating with skin therapists and retail teams for a comprehensive guest experience.

Fostering professional relationships with peers and brand partners.

Promoting the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.

Attending training and meetings for ongoing professional development.

Process

Adhering to company policies, procedures, and standards.

Following safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols in compliance with regulations.

Following established service protocols for consistency and quality.

Using booking systems to schedule and manage guest appointments.

Communicating supply needs to the EM to ensure guest readiness.

Maintaining cleanliness and operational standards within the store.

Following the dress code and loss prevention practices.

Executing additional operational tasks as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Cosmetology license required.

Experience

Previous salon experience preferred.

Skills

Proficiency in current salon techniques across services and a willingness to develop skills further.

Knowledge of equipment and chemicals used in technical services.

Ability to recommend and sell professional hair care and makeup products.

Strong communication skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Capacity to build and maintain a loyal client base.

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Frequent mobility and physical activity, including lifting up to 10 lbs, stooping, kneeling, bending, reaching, twisting, crouching, and standing for long periods.
