Position Overview:
Thread + Seed is seeking a Lead Stylist who is equally passionate about fashion styling and sales. This is a high-impact, client-facing role where you will be responsible for driving sales, leading styling appointments, and overseeing the styling direction for the brand. This is not just a role for appointments—you will be actively working the sales floor, engaging customers, and being a top sales producer.
As the Lead Stylist, you will oversee our Style Palette program, train and mentor stylists, and ensure that every customer receives an elevated styling experience. You will also play a key role in social media content creation, appearing on camera to showcase styling tips, fashion trends, and expert recommendations.
This position is based at our La Jolla Concept Store but will require occasional shifts at our Bankers Hill and South Park locations. The ideal candidate has a proven track record in both styling and selling in fashion retail and thrives in a fast-paced, high-energy retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Client Engagement
Work the sales floor daily, providing expert styling and ensuring a seamless client experience.
Be a top sales producer, driving revenue through strong client relationships and styling expertise.
Engage with customers in-store to provide on-the-spot styling advice, upselling and curating complete looks.
Build and maintain a strong client book, ensuring repeat business through follow-ups and personalized outreach.
Oversee and drive styling appointment bookings through in-store engagement and digital promotion.
Host and oversee group styling sessions, ensuring an exceptional experience for all participants.
Styling & Visual Merchandising
Lead and oversee the Style Palette program, ensuring stylists are trained in body type analysis and color profiling.
Train and mentor stylists to refine their styling techniques and elevate client appointments.
Oversee mood boards and styling direction to keep styling cohesive and on-brand.
Style mannequins and in-store displays, ensuring alignment with the Thread + Seed aesthetic.
Collaborate with the visual and merchandising teams to maintain a well-curated sales floor.
Social Media & Brand Presence
Actively create and appear in social media content, sharing styling tips, outfit inspiration, and trend insights.
Engage with the online community to drive traffic and bookings through digital platforms.
Stay ahead of fashion trends and industry influencers to bring fresh, relevant styling perspectives.
Operations & Systems
Implement structured styling systems to streamline the client experience and stylist workflow.
Assist with merchandising and store organization to enhance the shopping experience.
Work closely with management to analyze sales trends and identify key product and styling opportunities.

A proven seller with a track record of exceeding sales goals in fashion retail.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum of 3+ years in fashion styling and sales, with a proven ability to sell and style in a retail setting.
Strong social media presence with experience in content creation and video engagement.
Proven ability to drive sales, build client relationships, and lead styling appointments.
Experience training and managing a team of stylists.
Strong understanding of clienteling and relationship-building strategies.
