Tailor/Seamstress Jobs in Asbury Park at Manx Tailoring
New tailor shop that opened on main street in Asbury Park, NJ. Currently a single-person operation looking to add a second part-time tailor one or two days a week. With the potential with more as the business is growing. Mainly looking for piecework/overflow work. Flexible with schedule. Work can be done on premise or at-home. Payment by split or hourly. Whichever is preferable. Bench Test is required.
The shop takes in mainly basic alterations, jean repairs, zipper replacements. We have a vendor contract with J. Crew and J. Press. We also do custom suits + shirts for clients.
- Shop includes; 2 single-stitch Industrial Machines (Juki DDL/Singer 491), Baby Overlocker (Singer), Industrial Blind Stitch (US Blind Stitch). Pressing/cutting table with gravity Iron. Organized thread wall, notions, and other items. Shop also is half show-room for custom suits + shirts and accessories. Looking to add a second serger/overlock to ease workflow.
Experienced with shoulder work (Shoulder taper, shorten sleeve from shoulder, front seam taper), wedding/bridesmaids/complex dresses, and garment recuts is a bonus but not a requirment.
Responsibilities:
– Perform alterations and repairs on garments according to customer specifications
– Use sewing machines, sergers, and other tools to complete sewing tasks
– Measure and mark garments for alterations
– Sew hems, buttons, zippers, and other fasteners
– Ensure the quality and accuracy of all alterations
Qualifications:
– Strong sewing skills
– Knowledge of different fabrics and their properties
– Familiarity with sewing machines, sergers, and other sewing tools
– Previous experience in fashion retail or a similar environment is preferred
– Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with precision
– Strong communication and customer service skills

Pay: $18.96 – $25.00 per hour
