About the role
Predator Sports designs and manufactures custom sublimated uniforms and performance apparel. We’re hiring a Product Developer to own our product line: developing new styles and continuously improving existing ones through better patterns, construction, trims, and materials. You’ll work from concept through tech pack, sampling, and production, partnering with our overseas manufacturing partners to raise the quality and fit of everything we sell. This role is for someone who wants to own product, not just execute files.
What you’ll do
- Develop new garment styles and product categories from concept to production-ready spec (jerseys, shorts, shooters, warmups, outerwear, headwear, sideline and lifestyle apparel).
- Improve existing product: upgrade trims (zippers, binding, collars, cuffs, drawcords, grippers, woven labels), refine paneling and construction, and enhance fit across the size range.
- Own patterns and fit: direct pattern and grading changes with the factory, evaluate fit samples, run wear-testing, and iterate until it’s right.
- Author complete tech packs: flats, points of measure, construction callouts, BOMs, colorways, and material specs the factory can build from without back-and-forth.
- Source and evaluate fabrics and trims; recommend material upgrades that improve performance, feel, durability, or margin.
- Run the sample cycle: request, evaluate, red-line, and approve pre-production samples against spec.
- Do competitive teardowns of other brands’ uniforms to benchmark construction, trim, and fit, and turn findings into product improvements.
- Manage the development calendar so new and improved product lands ahead of selling season.
What you need
- Hands-on apparel product development or technical design experience, ideally in performance, athletic, or cut-and-sew apparel, with a portfolio or product history you can walk through.
- Deep garment construction knowledge: seams, stitch types, paneling, closures, and how construction affects fit, durability, and cost.
- Strong tech pack authoring: you can spec a garment completely enough that a factory builds it correctly the first time.
- Working understanding of patternmaking and grading, enough to critique and direct pattern changes even if the factory executes them.
- Trim and materials fluency: you know the difference good trims make and can manage a BOM.
- Fit evaluation experience: you can look at a sample and know exactly what to change.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator for flats and specs.
- Direct factory communication experience and comfort managing sample rounds on a timeline.
Nice to have
- Apparel CAD (CLO 3D, Optitex, Gerber, or Browzwear) and/or in-house patternmaking ability.
- Experience with overseas sourcing and factory relationships (China, Vietnam, Pakistan, Korea).
- Experience in team sports uniforms and knowledge of what coaches and athletes actually want.
- Familiarity with dye-sublimation constraints (how print interacts with panels and seams).
