The Technical Designer (Women’s) is responsible for coordinating the fit and construction from initial concept to commercialization and production to ensure on time development and delivery according to critical dates, product specification, quality, and profitability goals.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Establish women’s specs, grading and blocks and re-evaluate annually

Partner with Design and Development to communicate applicable information to vendors and ensure blocks are approved prior to production

Collaborate with Design and Development to ensure the proper selection of blocks and grade rules when creating seasonal styles

Collaborate with Design and Development to identify on-going block development needs

Track and facilitate prototyping in technical design WIP for all proto samples

Lead product fittings to properly execute the product vision for fit and function

Build and update tech packs to provide pattern corrections and construction improvements to the vendor for next round proto sampling

Anticipate and resolve technical, quality and costing issues during the Proto fit stages, making recommendations for improvement to deliver high quality product

Monitor and communicate progress and challenges throughout the product testing process to meet product quality requirements

Collaborate with Design and Development to optimally execute on product development and fit goals deliverables

Lead applicable projects to ensure they are completed on-time and within guidelines / goals for all facets of product creation

Support calendar management to hit critical milestones with cross-functional teams

Research and remain up-to-date on women’s fit trends

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

Proficient in Microsoft Applications

Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and CAD

Proficient in PLM system(s)

Knowledge of garment fit and pattern alterations

Knowledge of building BOM’s and technical packages

Knowledge of production creation calendar timeline and ability to execute on deadlines

Strong organizational attention to detail and follow-up skills

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Ability to interpret design intent and offer alternative solutions

Ability to prioritize workflow based on deadlines

Ability to problem solve and communicate all issues to cross functional departments

Ability to travel internationally

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree in apparel design, textile science or related field

Minimum 5 years’ experience in technical design

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT (if applicable)

Work is performed in a designated professional office workstation and environment.
