Position Summary
We are seeking an Associate Technical Designer to support the product development process from concept through production. This role will work closely with Design, Production, Sales, Buyers, and overseas factories to ensure products meet fit, quality, construction, and aesthetic standards. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and eager to grow within a fast-paced apparel environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Communicate daily with overseas factories regarding fit, construction, quality, and production-related issues.
- Assist in evaluating garment fit and construction throughout all stages of the development process.
- Participate in fit sessions on live models and document fit comments and corrections.
- Create and maintain tech packs, including garment specifications and construction details.
- Review and update graded specifications and grading rules as needed.
- Coordinate fit samples and work with sample makers to address fit and construction challenges.
- Communicate fit and specification revisions to overseas factories and private label customers.
- Partner with Design, Production, Sales, and Buyers to support successful product development and execution.
- Track samples, approvals, and development milestones to help ensure timelines are met.
- Maintain accurate product information and documentation within PLM systems.
Qualifications
- 2–5 years of Technical Design or related apparel industry experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, Apparel Merchandising, or a related field preferred.
- Knowledge of garment construction, fit principles, grading, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience creating tech packs and reviewing specifications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and PLM systems.
- Experience with 3D software such as VStitcher or similar programs is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Collaborative, proactive, and solutions-oriented mindset.
- Must be able to work in the office four days per week.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with overseas factories.
- Knowledge of the apparel development and production process.
- Experience in swimwear, activewear, or related apparel categories is a plus.
Pay: $80,003.60 – $85,750.24 per year
