Technical Designer for Wamen’s Apparel (Fit Technician) Jobs in New York, NY at Smiles Fashion Corp
Smiles Fashion Corp is looking for a talented Technical Designer (Fit Technician) to join our growing women’s apparel team.
Key Skills & Qualifications
1. Strong knowledge of garment construction, fit, grading, and size scaling.
2. Solid understanding of pattern fundamentals and base size development from concept to production specs.
3. Able to understand a variety of fits and aesthetics.
4. Able to follow tech pack construction details and design comments.
5. Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel.
6. Knowledge of 3D pattern-making software such as Browzwear VStitcher (or similar) is a plus, but not required
Responsibilities
1. Measure and evaluate fit samples (Proto, Fit, PP, TOP) and prepare for fittings.
2. Assist with and eventually lead fit sessions on mannequins.
3. Ensure sample accuracy for construction, trims, finishes, and tech pack specifications.
4. Identify issues related to balance, proportion, and comfort.
5. Provide clear, actionable fit comments to factories and ensure corrections are implemented.
6. Troubleshoot production and quality issues.
7. Perform PP/TOP quality control to confirm garments meet approved standards before customer submission.
8. Collaborate closely with Design and Production teams throughout development to final production
Pay: $85,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year
