Primary Responsibilities
Construct and alter costumes as directed, ensuring high-quality and timely completion.
Take performer measurements using AMDA’s standardized size charts.
Operate industrial sewing equipment: single-needle machines, sergers, cover stitch machines, steamers, and irons.
Perform complex tailoring and alterations on a variety of garments.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Follow direction with professionalism and contribute positively to a team environment.
Manage multiple costume projects simultaneously.
Support production deadlines with flexibility and attention to detail.
Lift up to 20 lbs and use ladders/stairs to access storage and supplies.
Adapt quickly to shifting priorities and production needs.
Report unsafe conditions to Production Management and uphold safety standards.
Qualification
Bachelor’s degree in Theatrical Costuming or equivalent work experience.
Minimum 2 years of experience in a costume shop or theatrical production setting.
Skilled in theatrical costume construction and alterations, including fittings and tailoring.
Experience in fast-paced environments such as touring shows or summer stock is a plus.
Strong time management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Comfortable working both independently and within a team.
Proficiency in digital tools such as Google Drive and Microsoft Office.
Must be able to lift 20 lbs unaided and work at height using ladders.
Willingness to travel between campus locations as needed.
Position Information
The regular schedule for this role is 15-20 hours per week (Part-Time). This is subject to change based on department needs.
The pay range for this position is $25-$27 per hour.
This position is subject to a background check upon a conditional offer of employment and a reference check.
