Job Summary
The Wedding Steamer is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented independent contractor to provide on-site garment steaming and pressing services for weddings throughout the New Orleans area.
You’ll travel to hotels, bridal suites, wedding venues, and other locations to professionally steam bridal gowns, veils, bridesmaid dresses, suits, and other wedding attire.
This is a great fit for someone looking for flexible, supplemental and primarily weekend work who takes pride in their work and understands the importance of reliability on a wedding day.
Responsibilities
- Travel to wedding venues, hotels, and bridal suites throughout the New Orleans area
- Professionally steam and press wedding gowns, veils, bridesmaid dresses, formalwear, suits, and related garments
- Handle delicate and high-value garments with exceptional care
- Arrive on time for every scheduled appointment
- Communicate when en route, provide an ETA, and confirm arrival
- Interact professionally and warmly with brides, wedding parties, planners, and venue staff
- Work independently and efficiently
- Maintain steaming equipment and supplies in excellent working condition
What We’re Looking For
Reliability and punctuality are essential for this position. Wedding-day schedules leave little room for delays, so candidates must be able to consistently honor scheduled appointment times.
The ideal candidate is professional, trustworthy, calm under pressure, detail-oriented, comfortable working independently and has reliable transportation.
Experience with garment steaming, bridal alterations, tailoring, dry cleaning, wardrobe/costuming, bridal shops, fashion, or wedding services is preferred.
Compensation
Independent contractor compensation is paid per garment/service, plus additional compensation for meeting punctuality and communication standards.
Requirements
Reliable transportation and phone required. Must be available for scheduled wedding appointments, including weekends, and comfortable traveling throughout the New Orleans area.
