We are seeking a Women’s Product Developer to join the Orvis Team! This is a remote role with an expectation of a minimum of 6 trips to Southern Vermont per year for our Design Development Review cadence. International travel 1-2x/year also expected.

As a Women’s Product Developer, you will play a pivotal role in leading our apparel transformation. You will be vital in helping to drive the flawless execution of our Women’s apparel product, celebrating our authenticity and heritage, and inspiring our team and our customers with unique, high quality, elevated products. You will partner with our Product Leadership Team to create clear roles and responsibilities, define our new processes, and lead us to a faster product-to-market process.

Position Interfaces:
This position reports to our Vice President of Product Development, Sourcing and Technical Design. This role leads the development of Womens Bottoms, Outerwear and Fleece programs and has no direct reports. This role partners very closely with our Merchandising, Design, Technical Design, Planning, and Sourcing Teams.

Responsibilities:

Develop apparel products that will delight and inspire our customers.

Support a customer-obsessed Women’s Product Development team.

Lead a culture of partnership, communication, and collaboration with our cross functional teams including Merchandising, Design, Technical Design, Planning and Sourcing.

Create relationships across our categories in Fish, Hunt and Dog to ensure we deliver a One Orvis experience for our customers.

Help establish new roles and responsibilities across the Orvis Product team

Partner with the Sr. Manager Womens Product Development, Technical Design and Sourcing to enforce and adhere to seasonal development calendar dates

Responsible for managing end- to- end sample development process and calendar timeline related to fabric R&D, proto creation, and readying styles for commercialization and bulk production.

Own daily communication with factories on all proto sample development, submit development, and pre-production samples.

Partner closely with Design, Technical Design and Sourcing Team on pre-costing process at proto stage to ensure accurate cost estimates are achievable and meet and/or exceed target cost.

Work closely with Tech Design and Sourcing teams to align on vendor allocation strategy for each style

Competencies and Requirements:

Degree in apparel design or related experience in Product Development/Production

3-5 years of Apparel Product Development experience with a proven track record of helping to create a positive, supportive and inspiring work environment for both Product Development and cross functional partners.
