Position Summary
We are looking for a creative, organized, and enthusiastic Assistant Designer to support the Women’s Sportswear Design team. This is an excellent opportunity for a designer with 1+ year of related apparel design experience who is eager to grow their career in women’s fashion.
Location: New York, NY (Hybrid or Onsite)
Department: Design
Reports To: Associate Designer / Design Director
Salary Range: $50,000–$55,000 (based on experience)
Key Responsibilities
- Support the design team in developing seasonal women’s sportswear collections.
- Conduct trend, market, and competitive research to identify new product opportunities.
- Assist in creating inspiration boards, color palettes, and seasonal concepts.
- Create and update technical flats, CADs, and presentation boards using Adobe Illustrator.
- Prepare design packages and maintain accurate design documentation within PLM.
- Assist with sample tracking, organization, and seasonal line reviews.
- Support fit sessions by taking notes, updating sketches, and communicating design revisions.
- Organize seasonal design boards, fabric libraries, trim libraries, and artwork files.
- Assist with presentation preparation for internal meetings and customer reviews.
- Communicate with Product Development, Technical Design, Merchandising, and overseas vendors to ensure timely execution.
- Maintain seasonal calendars and help ensure deadlines are met.
- Perform additional design-related responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related field.
- 1+ year of related experience in women’s sportswear or apparel design (internships may be considered).
- Experience supporting the development of women’s apparel collections.
- Strong knowledge of garment construction and fabrics.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator; Photoshop and InDesign are a plus.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
