Job Title: Associate Designer
Location: In-Office – Los Angeles, CA
Schedule: Full-Time; Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:30pm

Position Summary
The Associate Designer Supports the Senior Designer and Design Director in the development and execution of seasonal denim collections. This role assists with design concepts, technical package creation, sample management, wash development, and trend research while gaining hands-on experience in the denim design process. The Associate Designer is detail-oriented, highly organized, and passionate about denim, fashion, trends, and product innovation.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Creative Support
- Assist in the design and development of seasonal denim collections that align with brand aesthetic and business objectives.
- Support trend and market research to identify:
- Washes
- Silhouettes
- Finishes
- Competitive products
- Create inspiration boards, color palettes, sketches, and presentation materials.
- Help maintain seasonal design boards and assortment tracking tools.
Technical Design Support
- Assist in creating and updating tech packs for assigned styles.
- Enter and maintain style information, measurements, sketches, and construction details.
- Update design packages based on:
- Fit sessions
- Sample reviews
- Internal meetings
- Designer feedback
- Help ensure all design documentation is accurate and organized.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Partner with Product Development, Technical Design, and Merchandising teams throughout the product lifecycle.
- Assist in coordinating sample requests, tracking prototypes, and organizing design materials.
- Support communication with vendors regarding design details, wash comments, and sample revisions.
- Help monitor development calendars and key milestone dates.
Denim Development & Sample Management
- Review samples with the design team and provide feedback on design intent and execution.
- Assist with:
- Lab dip reviews
- Strike-off approvals
- Wash development tracking
- Prepare samples for fittings, meetings, and presentations.
- Attend fit sessions and document design-related comments and action items.
Trend Research & Innovation
- Stay informed on:
- Denim trends
- Fashion and consumer trends
- Wash and finishing techniques
- Sustainability initiatives
- Industry innovations
- Conduct competitive shopping and gather inspiration from retail, trade shows, and online resources.
- Share relevant trend and market insights with the design team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field
- 1-3 years of design experience, preferably in denim, bottoms, or app
- Understanding of:
- Denim construction
- Garment fit
- Wash and finishing processes
- Apparel development lifecycle
- Strong portfolio demonstrating design, creativity, and technical skills.
Skills and Competencies
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to create technical sketches and design presentations.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of denim washes, trends, and construction techniques.
- Eagerness to learn and grow within the design function.
- Strong time management and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements

Pay: $65,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
