JOB SUMMARY:

Maximize merchandise contribution and sales; Control merchandise receipts and open to buy; Control the development, purchase and delivery of merchandise assortments; Favorably negotiate all aspects of product purchasing with vendors; Interpret fashion trends for the It’s Fashion! customer; Communicate merchandise information to appropriate It’s Fashion! personnel; Shop competition and It’s Fashion! stores regularly;

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Maximize merchandise contribution dollars and percent in responsible areas.
  2. Control merchandise receipts and open-to-buy by week according to agreed plans.
  3. Control development, purchase and delivery of merchandise assortments. Insure that these assortments are quantified consistent with classification plans developed with planner and merchandise manager.
  4. Favorably negotiate all aspects of product purchasing with vendors.
  5. Interpret fashion trends for the It’s Fashion! customer in terms of retail price points, timeliness, fabrication, fit, and quality level for all assigned classifications.
  6. Develop resource structure and maintain proper relationships in assigned markets, including direct imports where appropriate.
  7. Communicate merchandise information to appropriate support or store personnel in agreed formats on a timely basis.
  8. Shop competition and It’s Fashion! stores on a regular basis.
  9. Must be able to travel to New York or Los Angeles or Las Vegas on a monthly basis. Store visits – as needed.
  10. Support special projects and cross-functional initiatives as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Minimum 3 years experience in apparel retailing. College degree required.

WORK EXPERIENCE: Merchandising with familiarity of bottom line productivity.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION REQUIRED: None

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Self-motivated with strong organizational and people skills. Able to withstand the pressures of producing a bottom line in a volatile business.
