Location: Sydney, New South Wales, Australia
Junior Buyer (Own Brand)
Our Commercial team sits at the heart of fashion, product and customer insight—blending data, trends and commercial thinking to shape what customers see, love and shop next.
Our Category Buying team partners closely with Planning to curate exciting, customer-first ranges that drive sales, maximise profit and stay ahead of the curve. From spotting emerging trends to building forward-thinking assortments, the team plays a key role in delivering an exceptional shopping experience.
In this exciting role, you'll play a key part in shaping the Own Brand category, supporting the buying and development of commercially strong products that reflect customer needs, market trends and brand strategy. Working closely with Design, Planning, Technical, Marketing and suppliers, you'll help build ranges that balance newness, quality, margin and customer appeal while developing strong buying, negotiation and fabric knowledge.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, supporting clear communication, cost negotiation and on-time product delivery.
- Support negotiations across product costs, minimums, lead times and terms to deliver strong margin and commercial outcomes.
- Develop strong fabric, garment construction, fit and quality knowledge to support confident product decision-making.
- Assist in building balanced Own Brand ranges across core product, newness and seasonal opportunities.
- Partner closely with Design, Planning and Technical teams to ensure ranges reflect customer needs, market trends and business targets.
- Analyse weekly trade performance, identifying actions across sales, profitability, stock cover and product opportunities.
- Monitor competitor activity and market trends to identify newness and commercial product opportunities.
- Work with Marketing and Creative teams to align product assortment with brand messaging, campaigns and customer storytelling.
This role is perfect for an experienced Assistant Buyer, or someone already operating as a Junior Buyer, ideally with a vertical buying background, who is ready to step into a broader buying role and take on more ownership across supplier management, product development and commercial range building.
You'll understand critical path milestones and be highly organised, commercially curious, confident working with suppliers, and passionate about product, fabric, quality and negotiation.
You'll also have a proven ability to drive the success of a department through creative and commercial thinking.
