Role Summary

Drive end-to-end fabric sourcing and development for woven/bottom weight categories, combining strong technical fabric expertise with commercial sourcing and customer interaction. The role will lead fabric innovation, mill partnerships, and seasonal developments aligned to global buyer expectations, cost, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

Fabric Sourcing & Development

  • Lead sourcing and development of woven fabrics aligned with buyer briefs, seasonal direction, and product requirements
  • Manage global and regional mill relationships (Bangladesh, China, India, etc.) ensuring cost, lead time, and quality optimization
  • Oversee developments including lab dips, handlooms, proto approvals, and bulk readiness

Technical & Product Expertise

  • Apply strong fabric technology knowledge in construction, GSM, blends, dyeing, finishing, and wash compatibility
  • Troubleshoot fabric-related issues across development and production stages
  • Work closely with washing and production teams to ensure end-product performance

Customer & Front-End Engagement

  • Act as a key interface with buyers and design teams, presenting fabric developments, options, and innovations
  • Translate customer requirements into feasible sourcing and development strategies
  • Support business with commercially viable and trend-right fabric solutions

Innovation & Sustainability

  • Drive newness through fabric innovation (structures, blends, finishes, performance features)
  • Introduce sustainable materials and processes (organic, recycled, low-impact finishes)
  • Ensure mill compliance with global sustainability standards and certifications

Market & Trend Alignment

  • Stay updated on global fabric trends, competitor benchmarking, and textile innovations
  • Convert trend insights into actionable seasonal fabric developments

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Textile Engineering / Fabric Technology (essential)
  • 8–12 years’ experience in woven fabric sourcing & development within large apparel setups
  • Strong technical grounding in fabric manufacturing, processing, and quality
  • Proven experience in mill management, sourcing strategy, and cost negotiation
  • Exposure to customer-facing roles / buyer communication is critical
  • Good understanding of sustainability standards and certifications
