Daniel K Akaka State Veterans Home is looking for a passionate and caring Hairdresser – Independent Contractor. The Position:
We are seeking a professional and dependable Hairdresser to provide on-site grooming services to our residents on a contract basis. The Hairdresser will offer hair care services to our veteran residents, supporting their personal grooming needs and enhancing their dignity and well-being. Services may include shampooing, cutting, styling, perming, and coloring hair, while ensuring all work is done in compliance with safety and infection control standards. Responsibilities include:
Provide haircut, styles, shampoos, perms, and color treatments.
Maintain a clean sanitized work area and properly disinfect tools between clients
Coordinate appointment scheduling with facility teams
Build a positive rapport with residents, many of whom are residents
Follow all facility protocols, including infection prevention and control measures
Provide services with professionalism, respect, and sensitivity to the needs of the veteran population.
Requirements:
Valid State of Hawaii Cosmetology License
Proof of liability insurance
Experience working with older adults; prior experience in healthcare or long-term care setting is preferred.
Must meet facility health and safety requirements (2 Step TB clearance and Health Review)
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently
Must provide own tools, equipment, and hair care products.
