About the role
Cult Store is looking for a Consumer Research Intern to help us understand the experience of customers visiting our offline stores. This role will focus on conducting exit interviews with shoppers immediately after their store visit and translating these conversations into practical improvements for the in-store experience.
What you’ll do
- Conduct structured exit interviews with customers across Cult Store locations.
- Capture feedback on store experience, product assortment, pricing, staff interaction, trial-room experience, purchase decisions, and reasons for not purchasing.
- Observe shopper behaviour in-store and note recurring customer questions, friction points, and decision triggers.
- Maintain accurate interview records and ensure data is captured consistently across locations.
- Analyse interview responses to identify recurring themes, customer segments, and opportunities.
- Prepare weekly insight summaries with clear findings, customer quotes, and recommended actions.
- Work closely with retail operations, store teams, merchandising, and marketing to share consumer feedback.
- Support quick feedback studies around new launches, visual merchandising, promotions, and store initiatives.
What we’re looking for
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Business, Marketing, Psychology, Sociology, Economics, Design, or a related field.
- Comfortable approaching and speaking with customers in a retail environment.
- Strong listening, probing, and communication skills; able to make people feel at ease.
- Curious about consumer behaviour, fashion/activewear, fitness, wellness, and retail.
- Detail-oriented and disciplined in recording responses accurately.
- Comfortable using Excel or Google Sheets to organise and analyse feedback.
- Willing to travel between assigned Cult Store locations and work during store operating hours, including weekends when required.
- Fluency in English and Hindi; proficiency in Kannada or another local language is a plus.
