I'm working with a highly respected boutique strategic consultancy that's looking for an experienced leader to head up its Shanghai office.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in entrepreneurial environments and enjoys wearing multiple hats. You'll lead a talented local team, oversee high-quality strategic work, nurture long-standing client relationships and play a key role in shaping the future of the business in China.
The consultancy partners with global and regional brands across sectors including consumer goods, luxury, fashion, technology and lifestyle, helping them understand people, culture and changing consumer behaviour.
They're looking for someone who combines commercial thinking with outstanding research and strategy credentials. You'll be just as comfortable discussing cultural shifts with clients as you are coaching a small team or identifying opportunities to grow existing accounts.
We're particularly keen to hear from people with experience in:
- Brand strategy, qualitative research or cultural insights
- Leading and developing small, high-performing teams
- Building trusted senior client relationships
- Delivering strategic insight that influences business decisions
- Commercial semiotics or cultural strategy (beneficial but not essential)
You'll need to be fluent in both Mandarin and English and already based in Shanghai. International experience, or experience working with multinational brands, would be highly valued.
This is a genuinely collaborative business with a close-knit team and a very human culture. They're looking for someone who enjoys mentoring others, gets stuck in when needed and can balance strategic leadership with the realities of running a boutique office.
