By processing household waste at our facility, we produce enough waste from energy to power 80,000 homes every year and recycle 70% of items through our Reuse and Recycling Centres.
About the Role:
We are currently looking for a
Sales Assistant
to join the team at our
Kings Road Reuse & Recycling Centre Shop
.
In this role, you will support the delivery of a reliable and high-quality retail service, helping to manage the sale of donated goods both in-store and online. Working alongside one other Sales Assistant, you will be responsible for maintaining the shop’s presentation and day-to-day operations, both collaboratively and independently.
This position would suit someone who is organised, dependable, and comfortable working with minimal supervision.
The shop is open Monday – Saturday and you need to be able to work Monday, Wednesday and Saturday each week- the additional 2 days can be flexible.
Responsibilities:
Provide a high standard of customer service by greeting and assisting customers in-store, and responding to queries via phone and email.
Process returns and refunds for both in-store and online purchases, and manage face-to-face order collections.
Handle cash register operations, reconcile receipts, and report discrepancies to the RRC Manager.
Receive, sort, and manage stock deliveries, including inspecting goods for resale and identifying high-value items for appropriate pricing.
Ensure effective merchandising and display of goods both in-store and online, maintaining clear pricing and a tidy shop environment.
Use Excel to catalogue inventory and maintain accurate pricing records; assist with stock control and organisation.
Requirements
Previous experience in a customer-facing role, ideally within retail, is desirable.
Experience handling cash and card payments, along with cashing up, banking, and reporting figures.
Friendly, helpful, and approachable, with strong customer service skills and confidence engaging with the public.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as independently when required.
Good interpersonal skills with a strong sense of commercial awareness, planning, and organisation.
An understanding of reusable materials and a genuine interest in sustainability is beneficial.
A good level of numeracy (ideally GCSE level or equivalent) and basic computer skills
