Job Summary: Tailor
A tailor is a skilled professional specializing in creating, altering, and repairing garments to meet clients’ specific needs and preferences. Tailors use their expertise in fabrics, sewing techniques, and fashion trends to ensure that clothing fits perfectly, looks polished, and aligns with individual styles. They work in various settings, including tailoring shops, retail stores, fashion houses, and as self-employed professionals.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Garment Alteration and Fitting
- Measure clients accurately to ensure proper fit of garments.
- Alter clothing, including resizing, hemming, shortening, or lengthening sleeves, and tapering to fit body dimensions.
- Repair damaged garments by patching holes, replacing zippers, or stitching tears Client Consultation
- Collaborate with clients to understand their needs, preferences, and occasions for which the clothing is required.
Quality Assurance and Finishing
- Ensure all alterations and custom garments meet high standards of quality and craftsmanship.
- Press and finish garments to present them in their best condition.
- Maintain accurate records of customer orders, measurements, and alterations for future reference.
- Offer professional advice on style, fabric choices, and garment maintenance. Skills and Qualifications
- Proficiency in sewing, cutting, and fitting techniques.
Tailors play an essential role in the fashion and clothing industry, ensuring clients look and feel their best through expertly crafted and fitted garments.
- Strong knowledge of fabrics, patterns, and garment construction.
- Attention to detail and excellent manual dexterity.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills for client interactions.
- Creativity and problem-solving skills to adapt designs and resolve fitting challenges.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 – $20.00 per hour
