Job SummaryBest Menswear is Ireland’s largest Independent Menswear specialists with an ambition for growth. We are seeking an experienced Senior Menswear Buyer with a minimum of 5 years of buying experience in menswear fashion preferably in tailoring and formalwear to join our Buying Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for buying the menswear formal collections ensuring the selection of commercially viable products that align with the brand’s vision and customer expectations. This is a key leadership role, requiring strong negotiation skills, excellent numerate and computer skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of menswear trends.
Key ResponsibilitiesProduct Selection and Development:Experienced working with Premium Menswear BrandsIdentify and develop key product ranges in line with seasonal trends and brand srtrategy.Collaborate with design and merchandising teams to create collections that meet market demandSupplier Management and Negotiation:Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and manufacturers.Negotiate terms, pricing, and delivery schedules to ensure profitability and quality.Source new suppliers to maintain competitive advantage and innovation.Stock Management:Monitor stock levels to ensure optimum inventory levels are maintained.Analyse sales data and trends to make informed purchasing decisions.Manage product replenishment to avoid overstock or stockouts.Market Analysis and Trend Forecasting:Stay ahead of industry trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences.Conduct regular market research to identify opportunities and threats.Provide insights to inform future collections and strategies.Team Collaboration and Leadership:Work closely with merchandising, marketing, and retail teams to ensure alignment.Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.Contribute to overall department goals and business objectives Collaborate with design and merchandising teams to create collections that meet market demand Identify and develop key product ranges in line with seasonal trends and brand strategy.
Skills and QualificationsMinimum 5 years of experience in menswear buying, with a strong focus on tailoring and formalwear.Proven ability to manage a full buying cycle, from product development to stock management.Exceptional negotiation and supplier management skills.Strong analytical skills with a detail-oriented mindset.Solid understanding of menswear trends, customer preferences, and competitive positioning.Proficiency in stock management systems and data analysis tools.Excellent communication, organizational, and motivational skills.Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.Special SkillsStrong attention to detail to ensure product quality and accurate inventory management.High levels of self-motivation and initiative to drive results.Exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Previous experience in a formalwear or tailoring-focused buying role.
