Role Overview
As a Sourcing Manager – Merchandising Operations, you will oversee sourcing and supplier management for a dedicated product category.
Leading a small and efficient team, you will collaborate with stakeholders in Product Development, Quality and Planning across EU and US, while driving supplier performance in Asia to ensure operational excellence. Acting as the bridge between departments and external partners, you will secure flawless execution from development through shipment. Regular travel across Asia will be required to manage supplier relationships and production timelines.
Key Responsibilities
Category Sourcing Strategy
- Define and execute short-medium-long-term sourcing strategies for the product categories.
- Drive and oversee cost, capacity and lead times to meet business objectives.
Supplier Management & Negotiation
- Lead supplier selection, onboarding and development.
- Negotiate pricing, terms and long-term agreements to secure competitive advantage.
- Build partnerships with key suppliers in Asia and collaborate with teams in Europe and the US for global alignment.
Product Development Support
- Partner with R&D teams to align sourcing directions during new product launches, ensuring supplier readiness and smooth industrialization.
- Lead costing and capacity planning by analyzing supplier quotes and forecasting production needs.
Merchandising Operations
- Lead an efficient and driven merchandising team to ensure accurate order execution and timely delivery.
- Oversee production Time and Action (T&A) calendars ensuring milestones are met from sampling to shipment.
- Monitor and resolve operational challenges to maintain smooth workflow and high performance.
- Guide team and suppliers to achieve timely sampling, reliable production visibility and coordinated quality inspections.
Market & Risk Analysis
- Track market trends, raw material developments and potential risks.
- Define and implement mitigation strategies to safeguard supply continuity.
Requirements
- 5–8+ years of experience in international sourcing and procurement across consumer goods or technical products, ideally specializing in helmets, goggles or related protective equipment.
- Strong supplier management expertise in Asia, with proven experience in certification processes for protective gear (e.g. ECE, DOT, SNELL, JIS, CCC, CE, FIM, ANSI, ISO standards)
- Solid knowledge of negotiation, costing and tooling processes.
- Proven experience in team leadership, with the ability to inspire and motivate
- Business-fluent English; Mandarin proficiency is a strong advantage.
- High willingness to travel regularly across Asia.
