Responsibilities
- Perform garment alterations, repairs, and customizations with precision using sewing machines and garment construction techniques
- Consult with customers to understand their tailoring needs and provide expert advice on fit and style adjustments
- Measure clients accurately, utilizing basic math skills to determine appropriate alterations
- Ensure all sewing and tailoring work adheres to quality standards, completing projects efficiently within designated timeframes
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace and properly handle sewing equipment and tools
- Assist customers on the sales floor by offering styling tips and product recommendations related to tailoring services
- Keep detailed records of all alterations performed, including measurements, adjustments made, and customer preferences
Skills
- Proven experience in fashion retail or tailoring environments with a strong understanding of garment construction
- Proficiency in sewing machine operation and sewing techniques for various fabrics and styles
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally
- Strong attention to detail to ensure precise fittings and high-quality finishes
- Ability to perform basic math calculations accurately for measurements and adjustments
- Knowledge of fashion trends and clothing styles is a plus but not required
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude
